It all began in the 1960s with Del Webb’s Sun City. The opening days of this community had folks lined up for the opportunity to buy into a retirement lifestyle community. A lot has changed over the last 50 years, but the active adult lifestyle is going strong and is a very popular choice. As a general rule of thumb, an age qualified community is geared to 55 and up, but a certain percentage of buyers can often be in the 45-55 range. No children are permitted to live in the community year around, but are allowed to visit.
